Our Efforts Benefit
Christel House.
Christel House focuses on creating lasting change in the lives of
impoverished and underserved children around the world. Currently 2,000
children in six countries – India, Mexico, Serbia, South Africa,
Venezuela and the U. S. – benefit daily from education and vocational
training; nutrition; life competency skills, and a safe, nurturing
environment. Indianapolis, Indiana businesswoman and philanthropist
Christel DeHaan founded the charity in 1998 and contributes all general
and administrative costs. Consequently, 100% of all donations fund
programs directly benefiting Christel House children.
The Colonial
Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Since 1910 the Boy Scouts of America has established a heritage of
developing young males through citizenship training, personal fitness,
and character development. The Colonial Virginia Council serves 13
counties/cities with 10,000 youth and 3,500 volunteer leaders on the
Virginia peninsula and the southside, including a recent emphasis on serving
the needs of at-risk boys. Programs include Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting,
Venturing, Career Exploring, and the in-school Learning for Life
character program.
