LAURA
DIAZ AND WENDY WARD
TO HOST THE CHRISTEL HOUSE OPEN
(Indianapolis,
Indiana) – LPGA tour players Laura Diaz and Wendy
Ward will serve as the Special Hosts of the 2005
Christel House Open international charity golf tournament.
The
event will feature competition at two dozen “Tier
One” tournaments at sites on five continents, all
playing on the same global day. The winning team
from each site will qualify to compete in the World
Championship, scheduled for September 12-13, 2005
in Indianapolis, IN.
“We
are excited to be special hosts of this year’s Christel
House Open,” explained Laura Diaz. “It’s really a
unique charity golf concept on a global scale to
benefit children.”
This
year’s Christel House Open World Championship is
being conducted in partnership with the LPGA’s prestigious
Solheim Cup international tournament, to be held
September 9-11, 2005 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
“What
makes the Christel House Open stand out from other
charity golf events is its global, one-day format,” explained
Wendy Ward. “Not one or even a handful of tournaments,
but two dozen events on the same day on five continents,
followed by the World Championship.”
Proceeds
will benefit Christel House, an international children’s
charity helping impoverished children to break the
cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, contributing
members of their society. Christel House learning
centers provide education, nutrition, health care,
vocational training, and other programs for children.
